I am interested in the relationship between emotion and memory. My Ph.D. project supervised by Prof. Anna Grabowska and Dr. Artur Marchewka (Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology in Warsaw, Poland) focused on how the brain mechanisms of long-term memory of verbal material is modulated by disgust and fear. My first postdoc project supervised by Prof. Patrik Vuilleumier (University of Geneva, Switzerland) was a further exploration of distinct effects of disgust and fear on associative memory, testing also the effects of emotional congruency between words and their context. Currently I’m interested in how emotional states such as arousal can prospectively influence memory of neutral associations and how the related brain states are reinstated during retrieval.
